In-state companies encouraged to use Minnesota-mined minerals
A resolution introduced by an Iron Range legislator in the Minnesota House of Representatives calls on Minnesota technology and medical companies to utilize Minnesota-mined minerals when manufacturing products.
âWhat we need starts with us mining the critical minerals in northeastern Minnesota,â Rep. Spencer Igo, R-Grand Rapids, said of his HC 6 resolution. âIt (the resolution) encourages Minnesota businesses to innovate and work with the mining companies to field and produce their products here.â
Northeastern Minnesota minerals such as iron, copper, nickel and others, should be mined under high environmental standards and used domestically, Igo said.

Should former prisoners pursue prestigious careers and home ownership? A survey suggests that people think the American dream should be more limited for this group of people.
The online survey of 637 people divided the respondents into nine groups, with each one getting a different profile of a fictional person. Some of the fictional people had spent time in prison, and some had not.
The February 2020 survey, posted Monday at SSRN, then asked about what type of aspirations the different fictional people should have.

The Government has delayed bringing in regulations to control intensive winter grazing after pressure from the farming industry.
The regulations to improve waterways and animal welfare were supposed to come into effect from May, but the government has deferred it until 2022.
Minister for the Environment David Parker spoke to The Country s Jamie Mackay about the decision and what it means for farmers over the next 12 months.
